Safeguarding Statement

Kirkby Avenue Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Key issues and Principles:
The child’s welfare should be of paramount consideration throughout;
Child Protection concerns should always be given immediate priority, delay is unacceptable;
Any individual with a child protection concern has a responsibility, regardless of their place in the organization, to take the matter further;
All concerns must be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, or, in their absence, the Deputy Safeguarding Leads;
Kirkby Avenue Primary School will contribute to effective partnerships between all those providing services for our children.

Throughout the school day, all staff strive to ensure the children are safe, cared for and happy. To ensure that we meet statutory responsibility and keep all our children safe, school staff receive regular safeguarding training and are vigilant at all times, with effective recording and monitoring procedures in place to ensure that safeguarding is effective and staff are proactive.

As we are keen to keep your children safe whilst in our care, we kindly ask that you do not bring dogs onto our school site and whilst we encourage children to cycle to school, providing a space to keep their bikes, we also ask that you ensure they do not ride them on the paths and playground.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the school grounds (this includes vaping).

If your child has had an accident or injury outside of school, please inform staff as your child arrives in the morning.
Likewise, your child has an accident at school, that we deem you may need to be informed, we will contact you to explain the incident by letter, text, email or phone depending on the severity.

Thank you for your kind consideration in helping us to keep our children safe.
