Hello and welcome to Beech Class. This page will give you a little bit of information about the ladies in the room that will help you and show you some of the things we have and will be learning. Check back on this page regularly to see photographs of all the exciting things we will be doing.

Beech Class Team

Mrs Fenton and Mrs Crookes (Miss Saul) are your teachers. Mrs Fenton works in Beech Class Monday to Wednesday and Mrs Crookes is in Beech on a Thursday and a Friday. We work really closely together to ensure that you always get the best learning experiences.

We are very lucky in Beech Class to also have Miss Dakowicz, Mrs Davis, Mrs Dodd and Miss Clifford help us throughout the week. We all work as a team to ensure that you have the best and most exciting learning experiences.

Summer Term

I cannot believe we are going into the Summer Term. I am sure it is going to be as exciting as the others we have lots planned. During our Topic lessons we are going to be learning about the past and comparing it to life now. We are starting by looking at pictures of farming in the past and talking about it. We are very lucky that we can ask Farmer Izzy and Farmer Walter some questions about farming in the past and farming now. We are also going to be thinking all about toys and having a go at making our own! It is going to be a big challenge to sew material together but we are 'Resilient Reindeers' in Beech Class so I know we will do just fine!

Spring Term

Over the Spring term we have learnt about the different continents. We have had great fun making different landmarks using blocks, painting animals from the rainforests and trying lots of new fruits inspired by our work about Africa.

During our topic lessons we have also learnt about waterproof and not waterproof materials. We tried our best to use this knowledge when we were making our boats. We were very lucky to have so many family members come in to help us, some of the adults had more fun than the children!

Boat Making

Please take a look at some of the pictures from our exciting DT afternoon.

Wow what a busy half term Autumn 2 has been. We have been to Gullivers, which was just the best day ever, had visitors into school and held our own Christmas celebration. Have a look at the pictures below of Christmas in Beech Class.

Gymnastics

We have really settled into our PE lessons in Beech Class. We know the basic rules of no talking and where we put our shoes and socks to keep us safe. We have completed a unit all about balancing and travelling, including doing a forward roll! We are so good at this now!

Careers Week

We had a fantastic careers week! We had a visit from an ambulance. Izzy came to tell us about farming and marine biology and Tom the drum teacher did us a mini gig! We had such a great time dancing!

Autumn Term

We will be starting our time in Beech Class learning all about each other and how we can work together to be an awesome team! This will be a short topic and will help us to all settle in and get to know each other. During our transition time we thought about the things that you would like to see in our classroom, the Peppa Pig tray being the main one, and we have worked hard to include as many things as possible that you said. We have also worked hard to make sure that we have lots of exciting learning opportunities this term linked to our next topic which is I wonder where in the world I live? We will be thinking all about what we live in, what village, city, and country we live in.

Remarkable Readers

Reading at home is one of the most important ways in which you can help your child. Children who read with their families develop these skills much more quickly and develop a love of Reading that can last a lifetime. Being a confident reader supports children in all areas of the curriculum and beyond school.

Our Remarkable Readers, aims to ensure that all our children are remarkable with their Reading throughout the year. Each time a child reads they achieve a ‘Reading Point’

Reading Points are cumulative and will be added up weekly throughout the year.

35 points = Bronze Award

85 points = Brilliant Bronze Award

130 points = Silver Award

175 points = Super Silver Award

220 points = Gold Award

265 points = Glittering gold Award

310 points = Diamonds Award
